There’s two parts to this post, one of them celebratory and the other a much needed explanation for you guys. Let’s start off on a happy note, shall we?
On October 31, 2010, I wrote my very first post on this lil’ blog. Check it out if you want a good laugh. It’s mildly atrocious. Anyway. This year on Halloween, YA Booklover Blog turned 3 years old!!!
I honestly can’t believe it. When I first started writing this blog I was in grade 8, just wanting to vent my feelings about books. I never thought anyone would actually read this blog, which I can prove by my blog name which is another atrocity in itself that bugs me everyday for its sheer blandness. However… Starting this blog gave me so many opportunities that I would not have had otherwise. I never imagined I’d be going to Random House or Harper Collins or getting to meet some of my favourite authors in person. I’ve also met so many amazing people through this blog, and every one of your comments encourages me because wow, people actually care what I have to say.
So basically I just wanted to say thank you to everyone who has ever stopped by this ol’ blog. I definitely would not have made it to 3 years without this amazing community.
Now, onto the explanation of me going MIA. I wrote a post a little while back saying that I was busy but still committed to blogging, that I would keep up the blog as much as I could. Well the blog kind of fell by the wayside these past few
weeks months. When I started this blog I didn’t have half the commitments or workload that I do now, and it’s just been really difficult adjusting to everything. As a result, blogging has had to take a back seat. I’ve seriously considered stopping blogging completely. I no longer feel compelled to write posts, and I dread the thought of reviewing books. So yeah, I’ve been toying with the idea of ending my blogging career for good.
But lately I’ve found so many things I want to blog about and get your opinions on… just not about books. I know that, at least for now, I won’t be blogging nearly as frequently as I used to be. If I make myself stick to just books I doubt I’ll be blogging more than once a month. But if you guys are open to reading a few different, random things every once in a while, I think I can keep this blog going. I’m not going to completely change what this blog is about, I swear, but every once in a while I just want to post about the latest TV show I’m watching or this fantastic smoothie I created, but I stop myself because this is just a book blog… and then I don’t post at all. If you guys are open to a variation in posts every once in a while, please tell me! Because I don’t want to give up on this blog yet, I think I just need a little change.
In summary: This blog is 3 years old (hooray!)! And how do you feel about non-bookish posts every once in a while?
