Hey everyone! So recently I put out a call for blog contributors, and I got a bunch of fantastic responses! Today I’d like you to meet Grace and Kiera, the two newest writers for YA Booklover Blog! You can expect to see all kinds of posts from these two chicas – reviews, discussion posts, possibly even some new special features.
I did a quick interview with Kiera and Grace so you guys can get to know them better, and here’s what they had to say!…
Tell us about yourself!
Hello there! My name is Grace and words can’t even begin to describe how thrilled I am to be a co-blogger on this blog! I’m currently a junior in high school and no matter how hard I try to convince myself that tea has way more health benefits, coffee has an extra special place in my heart (the more caramel the better, right?) Some other little things about me include my adoration for hedgehogs, love of Thor, and fluency in both sarcasm and feminist rants. I also totally ride a horse to school everyday and would never dream of leaving the house without my Stetson, being from the great state of Texas and all.
My name is Kiera, I’m 16 years old and I live in Wales, UK. I can speak Welsh fluently. I have been obsessed with reading for as long as I can remember and have read probably close to 1000 books. P.S: you can also find Kiera at her own book blog, The Book Cwtch
What are your favourite books/genres and what are you currently reading?
I am very all over the place when it comes to reading; if it looks intriguing, I’ll read it! Most of my bookshelf is made up of contemporary fiction, classics, historical fiction (especially about the Holocaust/ World War 2) and I’m a sucker for a good dystopian novel. Some of my all time favorite books include: A Little Princess, The Fault in our Stars, Harry Potter and the Prisoner of Azkaban (I mean, Sirius Black…), The Adventures of Huckleberry Finn, Jane Eyre, and Kisses from Katie. Currently, I am reading Graceling by Kristin Cashore and literally just finished Not A Drop to Drink by Mindy McGinnis.
My favorite genres of books are YA dystopian/sci-fi/supernatural fiction. I also enjoy reading contemporary but I have to be in the mood for it. My favorite series’s are The Twilight Saga, The Fallen Series, The Divergent Trilogy and The Hunger Games. My favorite stand alones are The Fault In Our Stars, Handle With Care, Mr Penumbras 24 Hour Bookstore and The Light Between Oceans. I have just finished reading Half Blood by Sally Green (I loved it) & I’m currently reading The 5th Wave by Rick Yancey.
What can we find you doing when not reading/blogging?
Once upon a time, I used to be semi athletic and swam on my school’s swim team before an injury ended that short career. Now I am incredibly busy trying to survive the most stressful school year that I’ve had to date, and my random coping mechanism for stress is pranking people, especially my poor history teacher. Pranking has filled a void in my life that I didn’t know existed, so I’m not planning on stopping hiding pens or pencil sharpeners any time soon. A more normal activity that I enjoy are crafts of all kinds; does anyone even remember what life was like before Pinterest? Sometimes I can convince myself that running is fun and I also really like watching New Girl and Lie to Me on Netflix. Every once in a while someone will tell me that I have similar mannerisms to Schmidt on New Girl, which is both hilarious and frightening.
When I’m not reading I’m usually going to music concerts and festivals. I watch a lot of tv Supernatural, Hannibal, Greys Anatomy, Teen Wolf, Bates Motel, The Following, The Blacklist, Criminal Minds, Casualty, Breaking Bad, American Horror Story & Doctor Who. I also spend a lot of time studying for my exams and reading/researching books about Midwifery as it’s what I want to do when I’m older.
So there ya have it! I’m super excited for this new chapter in the blog, and I’m really happy to have Grace and Kiera joining me! Look for tons of fun stuff from them in the very near future…
xx Chloe, Kiera, and Grace
