Since I posted about my favourite books of 2012 a few days ago, I decided to make a post about my favourite things of 2012 outside of books and blogging, so here it is!
I watched a lot of movies in 2012, and I’m not sure I can remember all of them! Some of my favourite new releases were Pitch Perfect, Life of Pi (love the book too), 21 Jump Street, The Amazing Spiderman, and of course The Hunger Games. I also watched some really good older movies for the first time, like The Way, The Sound of Music, and Life Is Beautiful.
Pitch Perfect was so, so great, and I can’t stop listening to the soundtrack. I love Rebel Wilson, and she has the most insane bio.
Then there are the rewatches – all my favourite 80’s movies, like Pretty In Pink, The Breakfast Club, and Sixteen Candles. New 80’s movies I saw in 2012 (I think it was 2012….?) were St. Elmo’s Fire and Say Anything.
I also rewatched my all time favourite movie, The Notebook, which I’ve seen like a billion times but never get tired of, and every time I finish the movie I just HAVE to go watch Ryan Gosling & Rachel McAdams get the award for best kiss, which is possibly the best award acceptance I’ve ever seen:
And speaking of Rachel McAdams, I also rewatched Mean Girls – if there is a movie I can watch even more than The Notebook, it’s Mean Girls.
I rewatched an old favourite of mine, The Parent Trap (the remake), and I discovered where Reese Witherspoon’s career started in The Man on the Moon, which was like a Judy Blume novel with an absolutely unexpected, kind of disturbing ending. Plus, I watched the complete BBC series of Pride and Prejudice, and, to use a phrase from Beauty Queens, My Stars! I never wanted it to end. Oh, and let’s not forget Date Night and Bridesmaids, two really funny movies that I watched multiple times this year!
I know I watched way more movies than that, but I just can’t think of them now. I sadly never got to see The Perks of Being A Wallflower when it was in theaters, so I’m desperately waiting for it to come out on DVD.
In 2012 I stuck to a lot of my old favourites in TV. Namely, Friends. By far my favourite TV show, I watched a ton of it in 2012. Then I got the complete series for Christmas and I’ve been watching like crazy. I just can’t get enough of Friends, its my ultimate feel good show.
I finished watching the full series of The Office (up until Steve Carell leaves), and it was just so crazy to see the whole ting grow so much, and the progression of the characters.
