Bout of Books 8.0: For REAL This Time!

Bout of Books
I know, I know. I have an awful habit of saying I’m going to participate in read-a-thons, even posting goal posts and whatnot, and then when the time comes I either completely forget about it or just give up because I think I can’t do it. Here’s the deal: for once, I PROMISE I will actually try my hardest to participate in this read-a-thon. I’m completely free this whole week, and I’m very motivated because my reading progress for the summer has been dreadful so I need to ramp it up now that summer’s almost over. Only two weeks ’till school starts! How did that happen??
Anyway, I swear I will try really hard this time. If anyone wants to volunteer as personal motivator, I’m putting an add out.
The Bout of Books read-a-thon is organized by Amanda @ On a Book Bender and Kelly @ Reading the Paranormal. It is a week long read-a-thon that begins 12:01am Monday, August 19th and runs through Sunday, August 25th in whatever time zone you are in. Bout of Books is low-pressure, and the only reading competition is between you and your usual number of books read in a week. There are challenges, giveaways, and a grand prize, but all of these are completely optional. For all Bout of Books 8.0 information and updates, be sure to visit the Bout of Books blog. – From the Bout of Books team.
I’m combining my sign-up post and goals post into one because I’m a bit late to the game. So my goals for this read-a-thon are as follows:
  • Read 3 – 4 books. This is super ambitious for me, as awful as that may sound. I’ve been reading a book every week or so this summer, so even if I read 2 books this week I’ll be happy. I have to work all day next Saturday as well, so that takes away a whole day.
  • Be involved on Twitter and other blogs – commenting, Tweeting, all that jazz.
  • Participate in at least one challenge

So those are my condensed goals. As for my TBR this week, I’m giving myself plenty of options…

The Beginning of Everything Claim to Fame Vicious Little Darlings

The Beginning of Everything by Robyn Schneider

Claim to Fame by Margaret Peterson Haddix

Vicious Little Darlings by Katherine Easer

Unraveling (Unraveling, #1) The Selection (The Selection, #1) Burn for Burn (Burn for Burn, #1)

Unraveling by Elizabeth Norris

The Selection by Kiera Cass

Burn for Burn by Siobhan Vivian and Jenny Han

I might start reading one of these today because I’m not reading anything right now, so is that cheating? Anyway, I’m sure this list will change as I go along, but if I just manage to get a couple of these read, I’ll be happy. Are you participating in Bout of Books? I’d love to see what you’re planning to read – let me know in the comments!

Bout of Books 7.0

Bout of Books
I came home from school with the full intention of flopping on my couch, turning that computer on, and continuing my friendship with Netflix. Buuuut then after being convinced by some very convincing people on Twitter, I’ve decided to participate in the Bout of Books 7.0 Read-a-thon. This is big for me because I never (ever) do read-a-thons. But I’m in a reading slump right now so hopefully this will help me get out of it!

My goals are going to be fairly small because I do have school this whole week, but I still hope to get some good reading in!
Goals
  • Finish the book I’m currently reading (This Is What Happy Looks Like by Jennifer E. Smith)
  • Read two more books

This Is What Happy Looks Like The Dark and Hollow Places (The Forest of Hands and Teeth, #3) An Abundance of Katherines

I know these goals probably sound like nothing to a lot of people, but lately I’ve only been reading 1 book a week, so if I get 3 done then I’ll be thrilled! I also want to participate in some mini-challenges because they sound like fun! I’ll also be using this post to track my progress throughout the week.
